Welcome to the Toddler Room at Halton Hills Child Care Centre! Toddlers are bursting with energy and very curious about their environment as they develop their walking, running and problem-solving skills. Toddlers love to fill & dump, push & pull, stack, and manipulate everything they can get their hands-on during playtime. The toddler educators plan a variety of ever-changing activities throughout the day to provide opportunities for growth, learning, and independence. It will not be long before your toddler is showing interest in toilet training and working on self-help skills. Vocabularies are still developing, with “mine” and “no” topping the list of favourite words. Soon enough, toddlers learn to express themselves through short sentences. We will witness an amazing explosion of language during the children’s time in our toddler classrooms. Areas of Learning ExamplesCreative Arts
Children create and explore the properties of different materials using their imagination and self expression. Group Time The children take part in fun songs, finger plays, and dance. The children gain an appreciation of books as our educators introduce a variety of delightful stories. Block Centre The children playing with blocks are practicing a wide variety of developmental skills including manipulating objects, creating structures, working together with peers, and enriching their vocabulary. Dramatic Centre Taking turns, role playing and building social skills happen as the children engage pretend play with their peers. Outdoor Time Twice a day, the toddlers go to the toddler playground or for a walk in the neighbourhood. During outdoor time, the toddlers have the opportunity to explore using their whole body, running, crawling, digging, and riding. |
